Votes by Cheryl Critchley, notes by Chris, notes in quotes by Cheryl.
We asked journo and driving force in the AFL Fans Association, Cheryl Critchley, to give the votes for this (fairly miserable) game. Cheryl is a dyed in the wool Tiger, but her children are in mutiny around her as the Tiges make another feeble start to a season that promised so much.
Cheryl said “it was very hard to come up with five. Very disappointing day for Tiger fans.”
5 votes: Bachar Houli. Has had a really consistent start to the year. Cheryl said “I just think he put in most of the day and few of the others did. His skills were also less deplorable than most.”
4 votes: Trent Cotchin. Got heaps of it, six tackles and kicked his fortnightly goal.
3 votes: Sam Lloyd. Has stepped up to be a reliable contributor – 3 goals, 16 touches and a memorable mark.
2 votes: Jack Riewoldt.
1 vote: Brandon Ellis.

Thanks Cheryl. What a hard time to barrack for Richmond. What a miserable afternoon. Lloyd’s mark was great and I loved that he later marked and goaled after the final siren, sending the ball over the heads of the insufferable Adelaide supporters. But what consolation is that? We just kept giving the ball away and every time we did Adelaide set themselves up for a forward-line picnic.
There’s something wrong at Tigerland but I don’t know if we’ll ever find out what it is.

Brendan O’Reilly

i can’t remember feeling so emotionally detached while watching the Tiges play. i couldn’t even get angry by the clangers. this performance was somehow on the radar.
It is great that Dimma stays on message and passionately defends Cotchin. But the narrative has to become more complex, detailed and honest – particularly in the wake of a contract extension.

Cheryl and Chris, well done. It’s hard to find positives in such misery but after watching the replay (something I couldn’t do last week) there is some light.
1/ Young blokes standing up and making a difference on the stats sheet.
2/ A couple of dozen goals scored and only 1 to Jack-we can share the scoring around
3/ We have some good cattle still in the paddocks waiting for their time on the field.
Australia 2 came back from 3-1 down to win the America’s cup, Stephen Bradbury came from nowhere to claim a gold medal and if you believe the stats here we are at # 3 for the biggest upset in VFL/AFL history http://www.matterofstats.com/mafl-stats-journal/2013/9/11/upsets-and-mismatches-in-vflafl-finals-1897-to-2013.html
We live in hope…….Go Tigers
