Where born? | Where born? Melbourne, in the People’s Democratic Republic of Coburg. |
Age: | 47 |
Where do you live: | Thornbury, known otherwise as Hipsterville. |
How did you come to barrack for Richmond: | It’s the usual story. Dad and my older sister made me, so I was a Tiger from day dot. I was also born in a Premiership year, 1967. Dad used to live in Richmond when he was a young man, back in the tribal days, in the Jack Dyer days, and tells a story of Richmond players getting a pounding from the Collingwood fans if they stepped into Abbotsford, and vice versa for the Collingwood players. |
Favourite all-time player? | On my duffel coat I had Robert Wiley on the back, and I was one of the few going around that did. I liked Dick Clay and others, but Wiley was the one. |
Favourite current player? | Reece Conca. Apart from the Conca cuddle, I like that he’s a bit unassuming, he’s the sort of bloke who just quietly gets the job done. He’s a bit like Wiley, in that way. He has a lot of poise, but he’s also a no-frills footballer. |
What do you most like about Richmond? | I have to think about this. My love for them is undying. I think about the solidarity of that final last year. I was at the ’82 final, and other finals, but I’ve never had anything like the feeling when the boys ran out last September. We’ve all been through so much for so long. There have been so many lean years. I am proud to be a Tiger, and be part of such a diverse and willing and large supporter base. |
Do you have a match-day superstition? | There is a scarf from 2008, a membership scarf, that has to be with me at all games no matter the weather. |
When will we next win a premiership? | I would say we’ll get one in the next decade. I don’t know how I’m going to cope with it, but it would be nice to be back up the top. |
