Benny Round 5 v Melbourne, MCG

27/04/2016 By Chris 4 Comments

Votes and notes from John and Molly Carr of the Dad and Mog pod who did the Benny votes live on air in a world first.

5: Riewoldt. He’s just become our most consistent player. He kicked three goals but I feel like every other score he had some sort of hand in. His field kicking and his football brain is above most players.

4: Cotchin.Just absolutely tried his guts out. Kept getting the ball out in situations where you thought it would be a ball up. Probably the most aggro I’ve seen him play.

3: Rance. Even though he stuffed up. Again he just tried his all. He played on Hogan who was goalless. We are not going to seem him for a couple of weeks and we are going to miss him.

2: Miles. He was one of the ones who kept standing up physically. He could come off the ground and feel like he could hold his head high. When Cotchin got knocked over Miles would be over there.

1: Lloyd. He did very well. Kicking goals from limited opportunities.

This game was a little like the last in that Jack, Trent and Alex were so clearly Richmond’s best players. Jack’s first half was just brilliant. He was more accurate with his left foot than most are with their preferred foot: low, sharp spearing passes (and I think a goal).
Alex’s absence will hopefully force some others to step up.

Yes, agree with you and 100% with the votes. Jack’s consistency shows he’s come a long way. So far Shedda, Brandon and Miles have got 3 votes between them.

Loved the podcast. Do you do it before school? Imagine you two, locked away in a room (maybe the laundry, a bedroom, the back shed) recording it before the city wakes up, before the maelstrom of a family midweek breakfast. I am concerned about the depths of winter. For our football team, and how cold and dark it might be for your recordings.

Perhaps you could do an under-the-doonah blog. Very fair and reasonable on the votes.

Hey Dugald & Chris, we’ll have to post some ‘recording pics.’ We get up at 5:30 on Tuesday mornings at the moment, and sit in our sun room/recording studio (yes, we have an actual studio.) Winter will test our loyalty, as will Richmond!
Last couple of sessions, lil Richie has peaked his head in towards the end. In episode 1, you can actually hear April’s alarm going off in the background for a time too. It’s hard to get up but one of my favourite parts of the week. Thanks for having us do the votes…if there was a 6th vote we’d have been struggling to fine anyone!!!
